On-campus

Living on campus opens up a world of opportunities, right at your door (literally). Research shows that students who live on campus are more likely to adjust quickly to college, earn better grades, become involved in campus events, more satisfied with their college experience, and are more likely to graduate than those who live off campus.

Approximately 3700 students live on campus in the residence halls:

Off-campus

A variety of housing options are available in the Platteville community and surrounding area. The Office of Rental Resources is available for assistance with off-campus housing needs and acts to promote positive relations and open communication between the university, students, landlords, community members and the City of Platteville.

Residency Requirement

University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents policy states that all freshman and sophomore students must live in university residence halls unless they meet established criteria for exemption. Exceptions to this requirement are authorized with appropriate completion of Request for Exemption form available in the Department of Residence Life for the following reasons:

  1. Students who commute daily from the home of their parent/legal guardian (50 miles or less)
  2. Students who are 21 years of age or older
  3. Students who have been out of high school for at least two years
  4. Students who have 60 or more post high school university credits
  5. Students who are married
