Registration materials are mailed to all admitted students in February. Students who are admitted after that time will receive materials in the mail within a few weeks of admission. If you do not receive registration materials, contact the New Student Registration office at 608.342.1033 or email@example.com.
The NSR mailing will contain: a checklist of items that must be completed prior to registering for classes, information regarding UW System English and Math Placement Testing, and instructions to go online and reserve your date for New Student Registration. To reserve a date, you will need your Applicant Account User ID and password information previously sent to you from the Admissions Office. You must pay your enrollment deposit before you will be able to actually select a date and sign up for NSR. Dates are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
New transfer students entering UW-Platteville have the opportunity to register for courses along with the continuing students during Advance Registration each semester. Please visit Transfer Student Registration for more information.
Incoming freshmen are required to take the UW System English and Mathematics Placement Tests prior to registration for classes (the Foreign Language test is optional). The results of these tests will be used to help select the appropriate level of math and English courses. Wisconsin regional testing takes place March through May. Students must take the UW System Placement Tests at least 3 weeks prior to coming to New Student Registration. (Only those students with completed college-level credits in English and mathematics may be exempt from testing. Refer to mailed placement test information for details.) Remember, you can sign up for NSR before you take your placement tests.
If you miss the regional testing dates, you must take the Residual Placement Test on the UW-Platteville campus prior to NSR (or just prior to the start of the semester for late registrants). Contact the New Student Registration office at 608.342.1033 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The fee for NSR is $145 per student and will be deferred to the student's tuition bill. This fee covers the cost of summer and fall registration, fall orientation programs, materials, mailings, student staff and meals for the student and two guests. If additional guests attend, the cost is $15 per person payable at check-in the morning of the student's assigned NSR date.
Overnight lodging is available for students and guests in a UW-Platteville residence hall the evening before the student's scheduled NSR date. The cost for each person is $20. Reservations can be made online when signing up for NSR or through Conference Services. Students will be placed with other students; family members will be placed together as space allows. Items provided by the residence hall include bed linens, pillows, towels and washcloths. Check-in at the residence hall is between 5 and 7 p.m. on the day prior to the scheduled registration date. Payment should be made prior to your stay.
