About Assistant Dean Jodi McDermott

Dr. Jodi Loeffelholz McDermott is a Platteville native who graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from UW-Platteville. While a student at UW-Platteville, she was involved in Ag Student Council, Dairy Club, Block and Bridle, Alpha Zeta, and Ceres Women's Fraternity. She was also a member of the Dairy Judging Team and UW-Platteville Basketball Co-Ed Cheer and Stunt Team during Bo Ryan's reign.

Following graduation, McDermott attended graduate school at UW-Madison in Bacteriology and worked as a Food Microbiology Researcher at UW-Madison for nearly 5 years. Research projects primarily involved food safety in respect to pathogens such as Clostridium botulinum, Listeria monocytogenes, and E. coli 0157:H7. Jodi has published articles in refereed journals such as Applied Environmental Microbiology, the Journal of Food Protection, and the International Journal of Food Microbiology.

In 1995 Jodi returned to UW-Platteville to serve as the Ag Student Coordinator. She was responsible for recruitment and marketing efforts. McDermott has also taught courses such as Professional Development II, Ag Consulting and Sales, and substitute instructor for Biology of Lactation and Intro to Food Science. She was named assistant dean for the college in 2008. She finished her Master of Science in Adult Education at UW-Platteville in 1998 and earned her Doctorate of Education in 2011.
