Dr. Kory Wein

Dr. Kory Wein is the Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Education and the Executive Director of the Confucius Institute at UW-Platteville.  

Among Dr. Wein’s many notable achievements at UW-Platteville are coordinating the first Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavors symposium, which has now become an annual university-wide event, and co-founding and editing Stylus: An Anthology of Freshman Writing, a guide to college-level writing featuring examples by UW-Platteville freshman composition students.

Dr. Wein is very active in many high impact practices and retention initiatives and is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Outstanding Service Award and Teaching Award.  He is also a past Wisconsin Teaching Fellow.

Mei works with administration, faculty, and staff to implement Mandarin teaching and cultural understanding on and off campus. She designs corporate on-site language training, outreach programs, and serves as a guest lecturer/presenter/interpreter in the surrounding communities. Mei works with schools and districts to establish Confucius Classrooms to ensure quality Chinese programs. She supervises the Institute's staff, Chinese instructors, and oversees budget. Mei is working for her doctoral degree, which focuses on higher education management. She resides in Platteville with her husband and two sons.

Tricia provides assistance and support to the Confucius Institute administrative team and instructional staff in providing programs for community members, businesses, educators, campus faculty, staff, and students. She works with the team in setting up and maintaining the office to serve as a local, regional, and statewide resource for learning about Chinese language and culture. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a Bachelor of Science in Speech Communication and has worked on campus since 2004. She resides in Potosi with her husband and three children.

This is Kristie's first year with the Confucius Institute as the Graduate Assistant. She provides assistance and support to the Confucius Institute administrative team and instructional staff in providing programs for community members, businesses, educators, campus faculty, staff, and students. She works with the team in setting up and maintaining the office to serve as a local, regional, and statewide resource for learning about Chinese language and culture. Kristie graduated from the University of Dubuque with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology. She is currently working towards a master's degree at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in Counseling Psychology in the School Counseling track. Kristie resides in Farley, IA with her fiance.
