We’ve planned the course of study for the Pyramid Model Training with your schedule in mind. The course is entirely web-based. You won’t have to get into your car and make the drive to the UW-Platteville to attend a single class. You will receive face-to-face instruction in the comfort and privacy of your own home from our website. To take advantage of this state-of-the-art learning technology you must either have, or have access to, a DSL phone line (or other high-speed Internet connection), and a webcam.
Coursework is designed to address the basic competencies to implement each tier and allows opportunity for participants to reflect on their learning environments and current practices, and to create an action plan to improve those environments and practices.
Empowering Caregivers and Promoting Play-Based Learning
Children (and adults) learn through play. Hands-on interactions with the world lead to learning. Ideas, insights, tips, and tools to support healthy emotional environments and create care settings rich in child-led, play-based learning is the center piece of this course. Deepen your understanding of the value of play in the lives and development of young children. Interactive online sessions will be full of ideas, discussions, and chances for you to connect with peers.
Assignments involve “real world” activities you can use in your early learning program.
Jeff Johnson is internationally known as an early learning author, speaker, and play advocate. For 16 years he directed a large child care and community center. In 2003, he and his wife, Tasha, opened Exploration Early Learning, a family child care program. Their program focuses on emergent learning in a play-based and child-centered environment. Jeff is a former board member of the IA AEYC and the NAFCC. He is the author of eight books focusing on caregiver self-care and play-based early learning.
