University Counseling Services (UCS) is the primary source of mental health counseling for students on the University of Wisconsin-Platteville campus. Confidential, short-term counseling is provided to assist students with personal, social, developmental, academic, or career concerns related to their educational progress, personal growth, and general well-being.

The counselors at UCS may help students discover some things about themselves which they were not aware of, or they may help them gain new perspectives on problems and find better ways of dealing with them. Counselors will support and assist students in their efforts to "sort out" and assess all aspects of their concerns. They will work with students to help them achieve their goals, but they do not make decisions for them or "fix" things.

Staff includes licensed professional counselors and one part time consulting psychiatrist. In addition to individual counseling, UCS also provides group programs, classroom presentations, career and other self-exploratory assessments, and consultation to faculty and staff.
