STOMP OUT STIGMA - Inspired by campaigns to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health treatment, University Counseling Services created a Stomp Out Stigma campaign. Because 1 in 4 college students experience mental health concerns we believe there is no place for stigma on college campuses. Watch these members of our campus community as they courageously talk about why they think it is important for everyone to get help when needed. Remember, your actions help create an atmosphere where it is ok to talk about mental health.
The 7th Annual UW-Platteville SUPERHERO 5K Fun Run/Walk will take place May, 3, 2014. Help Stomp out Stigma by walking, running, or jogging while you raise money for a local charity.
Why: Fewer than one third of students struggling with mental health concerns will seek professional help because of negative stigmas. University Counseling Services is thrilled to partner with the Health and Human Performance Department's 5K event to raise awareness of mental health stigma.
What: 5K (3.1 miles) to run, jog, or walk
When: Saturday May 3, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. (Check in and packet pick-up starts at 8:00 a.m.)
Where: Route starts in the Ralph K. Davis stadium parking lot
