Walker guides organizations to attain sustainable performance through establishing criteria for balanced decision models, conducting organizational assessments and designing and leading organizational transformations, enhancing leadership performance, establishing communications strategies, creating project management performance guidelines (including PMOs), process re-design and strategic positioning within a global business setting. As a Managing Consultant for IBM, she has nearly 20 years' experience domestically and internationally with Fortune 500 companies. She is currently serving on the PMI National Voluntary Action Committee.
Walker has been an author and featured speaker at many PMI Annual Symposiums since 1995, at the American Mgmt Assoc. Executive Forum and the Academy of Management Annual Seminar. In addition, Walker Waite was part of the PMI Leadership Institute Inaugural Class of 2002 and was on the PMI WDC Chapter board for over 12 years, serving as the President from 2001-2002 and the Regional Advocate for Region 5 (2002-2003).
Walker is married and lives in both Seattle, Washington, and Sacramento, California. Her philosophy about long-distance learning is that it allows you a greater opportunity to interact with individuals from different walks of life, industries, cultures, countries, and experiences, which is incredibly insightful with regard to the practical application of project management. She emphasizes the importance of timely and proactive communications in this environment and creates a forum for incentives and consequences for stellar team performance. She also advocates creativity and innovation, a good sense of humor and work-life balance--learning should be fun, not onerous!
