What is Engineering Physics?

Engineering Physics (EP) at UW-Platteville is an ABET-accredited engineering program that combines:
- Applied Physics
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
The EP curriculum provides students with:
- a fundamental knowledge of physics
- introductory courses in mechanical and electrical engineering
- experience in engineering design
- a professional engineering emphasis tailored to suit the individual's particular interests
Why Choose Engineering Physics?
Students choose EP for a variety of reasons:
Flexibility: students can tailor their course of study to fit a particular engineering emphasis.
- Some students use the EP curriculum to find their own "niche" in engineering and then focus their electives in that area.
Breadth: the EP core curriculum teaches students to understand the mechanical aspects of systems and also how to control systems electronically.
- Students are thus well-equipped with a wide range of problem-solving skills.
What Professional Emphases have Past Students Chosen?
Although students are free to design their own particular emphasis, the EP program provides guidance in the form of several suggested professional concentrations based upon the experience of past students. These include suggested courses of study for areas such as:
