The Aegean Dendrochronology Project began in 1973 and is now based at the Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research at the University of Arizona. Researchers travel throughout the Aegean, Balkans and Eastern Mediterranean to collect tree-ring samples from wooden objects that were constructed samples of tree rings ranging from 8,000-10,000 years ago. Peter Brewer, research associate at the LTRR, will share photographs, stories and discuss some of the most interesting findings as well as some of the challenges researchers face with this major, ongoing project.
