UW-Platteville is working with the Grant County Department of Social Services to help collect school supplies and backpacks for students in need.

Items in high demand this year include backpacks for all ages (4K-12), collegiate loose leaf paper, compasses, protractors, scientific calculators, glue sticks, folders, wide-rule one subject notebooks, 12-inch 30-cm rulers, wide and thin markers, Crayons and pink rectangular erasers.

Traditional school supplies on many school lists include pencil bags or cases, pencils, pens (blue, black, red), 1-inch 3-ring binders (hard cover), 2-inch 3-ring binders, highlighters and large boxes of tissue, among others. For local school lists of supplies, contact Diana Blindert at blindertdi@uwplatt.edu.

Please check lists for specific communities or check out local vendors that carry school supplies as they have lists.

You may drop off the items at the Distance Learning Center, Alumni Services and the Business and Accounting office at Ullsvik Hall as well at the University Information and Communications office in the lower level of Brigham Hall. Donations can also be dropped off on the sixth floor of Pioneer Tower.

Monetary donations may be written out to and sent to Grant County Social Services, Terri Irish, P.O. Box 447, Lancaster, WI 53813 or left at a drop point. Write “School Supply Drive” on the check’s memo line.
