PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Office of Multicultural Student Affairs has announced that Audera Cox, sophomore criminal justice major from Madison, Wis., is the Student of the Month award recipient for March.

Each month the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs selects a student of the month. The recipient demonstrates exceptional academic excellence as well as great leadership and involvement on campus and in the community.

The recipient of the award receives a certificate, lunch with Chancellor Dennis J. Shields and a faculty member of their choice, a polo and is highlighted of the student on the month bulletin board.

Cox transferred to UW-Platteville from Madison College last semester and has since become active on campus. She is active with the College Democrats and interned with the Barack Obama presidential campaign. Cox was one of 15 students to attend the American Multicultural Leadership Conference this March.

Cox also traveled to China through the UW-Platteville Education Abroad Office during spring break. “Not only is this an amazing opportunity to learn more about the business practices of another country and gain educational knowledge, but it is also an opportunity for me to grow culturally in order to enrich the campus,” said Cox.

When asked to select one faculty to invite to her lunch with the chancellor, she selected Professor Adrienne Jones. “I will forever be grateful for the relationship I was able to build with her as a student in her class,” said Cox. “She has changed my perceptions of myself, my education and my future for the better.”
