PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — Tyler Ensrude, campus photographer, was selected for the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Limited Term Employment Award of Excellence.

“It is a great honor and I know there are many deserving candidates in the same position as me. I feel very lucky to have been nominated,” said Ensrude.

Ensrude, a native of Dodgeville, Wis., is a UW-Platteville alumnus, earning a bachelor’s degree in communications technology management with an emphasis in photography and graphic design in spring 2001.

Following graduation, Ensrude completed an education abroad experience in Nagasaki, Japan. He later moved to Tokyo, Japan, where he worked for eight years teaching English to adult learners. He also worked in a photo studio in Tokyo.

Ensrude returned to the United States in 2010 with his wife and then 4-month-old son. He was hired at UW-Platteville shortly after his return.

“I feel lucky to be able to take pictures every day, and I get to use equipment that not everyone gets to use,” he said. “We have some really good equipment here. I take that as a bonus.”

Ensrude’s favorite time of year on campus is during the fall. “It’s much cooler. We have students around, everyone is active, and the campus is at its most beautiful point,” he said.

“Tyler is very deserving of this award,” said Paul Erickson, director of University Information and Communications. “He puts in many nights and weekends, covering all sorts of UW-Platteville events. What makes him so good is that he finds unique angles or lighting to make all of his shots special.”

Ensrude will be honored during the annual university convocation on Aug. 29.
