Honors recital showcases nine students on Oct. 6

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — Nine University of Wisconsin-Platteville students who distinguished themselves in their jury performance examinations last spring will perform in the UW-Platteville Performing and Visual Arts Honors Recital on Sunday, Oct. 6, in the Richard and Helen Brodbeck Concert Hall, Center for the Arts, at 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow in the CFA lobby.

UW-Platteville student performers are Victoria Dolfin, a senior instrumental and general music education major from Oostburg, Wis., saxophone; Amanda Frisch, a sophomore music education and euphonium major from Wisconsin Dells, Wis., euphonium; Michelle Gunzel, a senior mathematics major from Manitowoc, Wis., piano; Gwendolyn Haag, a sophomore choral music education major from Waunakee, Wis., mezzo-soprano; T.J. Jungbluth, a sophomore civil engineering major from Eau Claire, Wis., marimba; Sara Mueller, a sophomore vocal and general music education major from Forestville, Wis., mezzo-soprano; Amanda Russell, a junior music education-instrumental major from Mauston, Wis., horn; Jason Schlarmann, a senior secondary English education major from Worthington, Iowa, bassoon; and Amanda Zasada, a junior vocal non-teaching music major from Platteville, soprano.

“The Student Honors Recital is a wonderful opportunity for the Department of Performing and Visual Arts to recognize and encourage some of its most talented music students,” said Dr. Eugene Alcalay, professor of piano at UW-Platteville. “We are grateful to Rob Shepherd, who will provide piano accompaniments for this special event.”
