UW-Platteville presents fourth annual “Meet ‘n Eat with an Entrepreneur” event

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — University of Wisconsin-Platteville students are invited to the upcoming “Meet ‘n Eat with an Entrepreneur” event on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 5 p.m. in the Harry and Laura Nohr Gallery, Ullsvik Hall. Students will have the unique opportunity to witness some of the region’s brightest entrepreneurs’ minds in action, while at the same time, meet other students interested in entrepreneurship. This event is sponsored by the Pioneer Academic Center for Community Engagement.
This year’s featured presenter is Carl Babler, principal of Atten Babler Commodities with offices located in Galena, Ill., and Visalia, Calif. Dr. Kevin Bernhardt, director of PACCE, and Marcia Harr Bailey, assistant professor in business and coordinator of the new entrepreneurship minor, will be facilitating the event.
Babler has an extensive background in entrepreneurial activities. His experiences include owning and operating a 1,600-acre irrigated corn farm in the panhandle of Texas, field and greenhouse cut flower production, farmstead cheese production, developing and marketing erosion control solutions using geotextiles and wholesaling agricultural belts. Beyond hands-on managerial involvement in these ag-related activities, Babler has equity ownership positions in ethanol, bio diesel, water rights and cattle feeding limited liability corporations. He stays in touch with production agriculture as managing partner of Lafayette Acre Inc., a 1,700-acre farm near Cuba City, Wis.
