UWP alumni honored at banquet

PLATTEVILLE - Three University of Wisconsin-Platteville alumni recently received awards and were honored at a Liberal Arts and Education banquet.

Distinguished Educator Awards 2002 were granted to David T. Knoebber of LaGrange, Ill., and Elmer M. Colyer of Dubuque.

The Professional Achievement Award 2002 was granted to Scott S. Baumgartner of Chicago.

Colyer, a 1981 graduate of UWP, serves as professor of historical theology and Stanley professor of Wesley studies at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary.

Colyer earned a Ph.D. from Boston College and divinity degree from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary.

Artist and art educator Knoebber is a faculty member of the art and design and film and video departments of Columbia College in Chicago. He holds a master's degree in visual education from the Illinois Institute of Technology School of Design, and has pursued additional studies in visual arts from UW-Madison, the School of the Art Institute in Chicago and Northwestern University.

A 1972 graduate of UWP, Baumgartner received a master of arts degree in higher education administration and student development from Bowling Green State University.

Baumgartner has held numerous academic positions, including serving as assistant director and director of financial aid and as associate and assistant director of the student center. He has also served as director of student activities at UWP. He also served as UWP director of building operations.

Currently Baumgartner serves as president and chief executive officer of the Honey Jug Marine Sanitation, Inc., Chicago.
