PLATTEVILLE-The easels will be turned as students have their chance to critique the critics during the University of Wisconsin-Platteville art faculty exhibit. The exhibit will be on display in the Harry and Laura Nohr Gallery of the Ullsvik Center beginning Monday, March 24 through Friday, April 11. All are welcome to attend the opening reception held from 5 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 1.

The exhibit will feature roughly three to four pieces of art per instructor in a variety of mediums. UWP art faculty members who will have works on display include Steve Vance, Kaye Winder, Weldon "Bud" Wall, Greg Nelson, Linda James and Richard Moninski.

"This exhibit highlights the amazing work that our faculty does and proves that those who can, also teach," said John Hassig, program coordinator of the UWP Harry and Laura Nohr Gallery and the Center for the Arts. "With a display that includes everything from drawings and sculptures to paintings and textiles, there will be something for everyone to enjoy."

While the art exhibit is an excellent opportunity for students and others members of the University and surrounding communities to view interesting and exciting works of art, it also provides the UWP art faculty with the opportunity to display their credentials.

"The art faculty exhibit shows that our faculty is working in the field," said Bud Wall, who will be displaying several new and older pieces of his work. "There are a lot of art professors at other universities that rarely pick up a brush. When the students see our work, it inspires them. They respect us more and it shows them that we know what we're talking about."

The faculty art exhibit is held annually and is free and open to all. Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from noon to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
