PLATTEVILLE- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Fine Arts Department will hold an American music recital at 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, in the Richard and Helen Brodbeck Concert Hall in the Center for the Arts.

The recital will feature UWP faculty member Rebekah Demaree singing soprano to the accompaniment of Ester Wang and Timothy Lovelace, former faculty of UWP, now of the University of Texas at Austin.

"We started hosting a recital when Ester and Timothy were teaching at UWP," Demaree said. "We have performances one to two times a year and really enjoy working together."

The concert will include pieces composed by Samuel Barber, Aaron Copland, William Hawley and Richard Hundley; one for soprano solo and another for a four-handed piano selection.

"This year we're doing two shows of American Music in Wisconsin and an entirely different Valentine's Day performance in Texas," Demaree said.

The group will perform at the Elvehjem Museum in Madison on Sunday, Nov. 17, which will be broadcast live on Wisconsin Public Radio.

"There's some comedy in the program, so it's entertaining for all ages," Demaree said. "And all of the singing is in English with a complete program to help follow this 20th-century musical performance." said Demaree.
