Handicap Parking Permit

  • The University Police Department provides a temporary 10-day handicap permit. If a permit is needed for a longer period of time the individual will have to apply with the Department of Transportation. The University Police will not extend a 10-day handicap permit.
  • The University Police requires a doctor’s written evaluation before issuing a temporary handicap permit. The authorization needs to be on on their letterhead and include the individuals name, that they need a handicap permit, and for how long (not to exceed 10 days). This needs to be faxed to the University Police Department at 608.342.1641.
  • The temporary handicap permit is free if you have a university permit or $10 for 10 days.
  • The University Police reserves the right to place restrictions on any temporary handicap permit issued.
  • The temporary handicap permit is only valid in university parking lots.
  • If you display a state or temporary handicap permit you are exempt from any meter charges and you may park in any designated handicap stall without a university permit.

Overnight Permit

  • Overnight permits are ONLY for Staff/Students participating in a university sponsored trip or conference.
  • Athletic Group ~ If you are leaving with an athletic team you will need to see your coach for a permit.
  • Staff ~ You may apply if you are leaving on a university sponsored conference/trip.
  • Students ~ The department secretary, faculty member, or club/group advisor will need to apply for a permit for you and/or your group.
    • They may also e-mail the police@uwplatt.edu informing our department of your name and the university sponsored trip so that you can apply for the permit.
  • This permit allows the bearer to park in lot 26 ONLY.
  • This permit is valid in lot 26 only during the "from and expired date" on the permit.
  • This permit is void and the vehicle subject to parking citations if any information is left blank on the permit.
  • This permit must be properly displayed or a parking citation will be issued.

One Day Parking Permit (Visitor Permit)

Individual NON-STUDENT One Day Permit

  • NON-STUDENT One Day permits cost $2.00 per day.
  • Permits may be purchased for more than one day. (The appropriate date will need to be scratched off on each parking permit.)
  • NON-STUDENT parking permits are valid in Visitor stalls, Staff and Commuter Lots, and on College Drive, University Plaza, and Greenwood Avenue.  2–6 a.m.parking is not allowed.
  • One day parking permits are not valid in parking meters, or other areas that are reserved or no park areas.
    • Cars parked at a meter MUST pay the meter.  Cars with a state disabled/handicap permit or license plate displayed are exempt.
  • Please fill out the entire form and print it.
  • NON-STUDENT one day permits are valid only for the date scratched off.  If more than one day is scratched off the permit, the permit is void.
  • The permit must be hung from the rear view mirror, or if unable to display from the rear view mirror, the permit must be displayed, face up, on the driver's side corner of the dashboard, with the permit facing outward. Any vehicle displaying a visitor permit, that is not readable, or not properly displayed will result in a parking citation.

  • Selling or free distribution, please circle one option in order that the correct amount will be charged
  • Check the appropriate account number or write in the account number to be charged.
  • You may send the form via campus mail to:
    • University Police Department
    • 134 Brigham Hall
  • The permits will be delivered to you through campus mail.
  • The form will be returned to you showing the total amount charged to your account. A copy will need to be sent to your Dean's Office for any Academic Department charging their Dean's account number. A copy will also be kept in our office. If you wish to pick the permits up you are welcome to do so.

University Parking Regulations

Service Vendor

  • A vendor or a company servicing the university may receive a service parking permit. This parking permit will have a yearly expiration. You may reapply during the month of your expiration to renew your permit.
  • A service vendor who drives a clearly marked business vehicle will not be required to display a parking permit.
  • If the original parking permit is lost, the vendor or company will be required to purchase a replacement permit.
  • A company contracted by the Physical Plant should consult with the Physical Plant administration regarding parking arrangements. The company may receive a contractor parking permit, which is issued by the Physical Plant.

Athletic Department Permits

All coaches will need to see Kara McCarville for the participants overnight parking permits for the current trip.

Facilities Contractor Permit

The Facilities Department contractor parking permits may be requested through the Police Department using the Facilities parking permit form.

Chancellor Permit

The Chancellor parking permits may be requested through the Police Department using the Chancellor's parking permit form.

Pioneer Patron Parking Permits

  • Retired faculty and staff that have been awarded Emeritus status may apply for a Staff Parking Permit at no cost.
  • The permit must be displayed while parking in a university lot or a citation will be issued for non-display.
  • If the original permit is lost, stolen, or damaged, the permit holder will be required to purchase a replacement.
  • The permit must be renewed before Aug. 31 of every year.

Pioneer Activity Center Members

Community members who purchase a membership to the Pioneer Activity Center may purchase a Parking Permit. The same restrictions apply to Pioneer Activity Center Members that apply to commuter parking lots.  The permit amount will be the same as a staff parking permit fee.
