why are we re-evaluating e-mail and calendaring?

Our five year contract with Zimbra is expiring in August, 2014. While Zimbra has worked well for the campus, it is important to determine if it is the best solution for UW-Platteville students and staff, both now and in the years to come.  Accordingly, this e-mail/calendaring committee was formed and has been meeting to develop a plan to evaluate how well Zimbra meets our needs and compare it to other possible alternatives.

We understand the importance that e-mail and calendaring plays in the lives of students and staff.  We do not take the possibility of change lightly and will only recommend a change if the benefits greatly outweigh the costs.  We also want to make this an informative and transparent process. In the coming months, discussions and surveys will take place about our current e-mail system and the possibility of changing to a new e-mail provider.

Please take the time to engage in the process and give us your thoughts and perspective.  This site will provide updates on the process, including results from surveys and answers to frequently asked questions. Stay tuned!
