Living on campus provides students with special opportunities for growth, learning, fun and friendship.  At the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, we believe that residence hall living is an integral part of the university experience. Over 3,700 students live in 12 university residence halls.  However, the wings, floors and halls are sized just right so that the environment is welcoming, friendly and easy to get to know people. 

The Department of Residence Life at UW-Platteville offers a wide variety of living options to fit the needs of today’s college students. All residence halls offer a staff of Resident Assistants, Senior Assistants and a Resident Director dedicated to providing inclusive, student-centered, academically focused communities for the residents. The involvement and assistance of our dedicated staff helps to make our residence halls enjoyable places to live and work. **NOTE:  Prices listed below are PROJECTED for the Fall of 2014.  We anticipate a 3-6% increase of rates from 2013 prices.  THE UW SYSTEM BOARD OF REGENTS WILL APPROVE FINALIZED RATES IN JULY 2014 for the 2014-15 academic year.  Prices are projected to go up.

Residential Preferences

SOUTHWEST
TIER

Southwest Hall, completed in 2006, is home to students, sophomore and above, who live in four-person suites. Each suite has four single bedrooms, a living room, a dining area with kitchenette, and two bathrooms. There is elevator access to all floor levels. The entire building is air conditioned.  Each of the six floors has a study room with a computer that can be used for group projects. Other public areas include the main desk, mailroom, lobby, multipurpose room, laundry room, and community room with vending area. Southwest Hall remains open during the official academic year breaks. 
Projected Fall 2014 price:  $2785 per semester.

BRIDGEWAY
TIER

New in the fall of 2013, our semi-suite style building, Bridgeway Commons offers its residents a distinctive living environment.  Each unit contains two double occupancy bedrooms and a private bathroom to share amongst its four residents. In addition, Bridgeway Commons is completely air conditioned and contains its own on-site dining facility, common spaces, meeting rooms, elevator access to all floor levels, front desk and recycling services, and laundry facilities.  Bridgeway Commons remains open during the official academic year breaks.  Bridgeway Commons hosts the Healthy Living Interest Community, programming toward personal wellness.
Projected Fall 2014 price:  $2680 per semester.

ROUNTREE
TIER

Students looking for a non-traditional living experience will enjoy our suite style building, Rountree Commons.  Rountree Commons is located a short distance from our football stadium and has its own on-site dining facility, elevator access to all floor levels, physical fitness area, keyless entry, laundry facilities, front desk and recycling services, and state-of-the-art media center.  Residents of Rountree Commons live in four-person suites with double occupancy bedrooms, a kitchenette, toilet and shower area.  The entire building is air conditioned.  Rountree Commons remains open during the official academic year breaks, and offers an opportunity for year round living. Rountree Commons hosts the Leadership LLC on campus.
Projected Fall 2014 price:  $2550 per semester.

RENEWED 
TRADITIONAL

The accommodations in the renewed traditional tier are similar to our traditional tier with the exception of renewed room and community space architecture.  This more modern and updated look to the traditional format of our living spaces offers students another option to choose from in our fleet of residence halls.  Renewed options offer new lighting, carpet, and closet components in resident rooms for a lighter, brighter living experience.  The common spaces have updated lighting and furnishings in modern style.  Residence halls that offer the renewed traditional amenities include Porter Hall, and pending summer 2014 renovation: Melcher Hall.
Projected Fall 2014 price for PORTER HALL:  $2145 per semester.
Projected Fall 2014 price for MELCHER HALL (pending renovation) :  $2045 per semester.

TRADITIONAL The traditional tier of residence halls offers a traditional living experience for its residents.  Amenities included in this tier of buildings includes: a double-occupancy room, community bathrooms with curtained privacy areas, community kitchen space, laundry facilities, social and academic lounges, and recycling and front desk services.  Residence Halls that offer the traditional amenities include Brockert, DobsonHugunin, McGregor, *Melcher, Morrow, Pickard and Wilgus.  Pickard Hall, amongst the traditional buildings, will be home to the First Year Experience Interest Community. 
Projected Fall 2014 price: $1945 per semester.
*If Melcher Hall is not renovated, summer 2014, it will remain in the Traditional Tier of residence halls.
