Important Information from the Director

Dear Residence Hall Students,

The year is near the end and I am sure you are hard at work completing your academic responsibilities. I hope you finish on a high note with great results during your finals week.  

The 2012-2013 year has been a great year of programming and anticipated growth for the Department of Residence Life.  I would like to commend and thank the residence hall staffs, hall council members, RHA and NRHH on their dedication to making our residence halls at UW-Platteville environments of respect and academic excellence, with a little fun thrown in too.

In looking ahead to next year, we are excited about the opening of Bridgeway Commons.  In my tours of Bridgeway I have been very excited at seeing the awesome rooms for students and shared bathrooms along with common area space on each floor.  Bridgeway will host our all you care to eat dining venue and I know you will really enjoy that space and the new dining options.  Along with our construction in Bridgeway, we had anticipated renovating Dobson Hall and Melcher Hall for next year.  We are unfortunately unable to move forward with these planned renovations based on decisions beyond our campus.  The residents of these halls will be billed the traditional hall amount for 2013-2014.  We hope to be going forward with these hall updates in the near future.

As closing begins next week, information about checking out of your residence hall room is available through the Closing Information Newsletter, which is also posted on our website.  If you have questions in regards to the closing process and the information you are responsible to know, please contact a residence hall staff member.

IMPORTANT: Before leaving the residence halls it is important to know that the UW System Board of Regents 2-Year Live On Campus Requirement is enforced. The Department of Residence Life will be following up with our continuing students who are required to live on campus to ensure they are in compliance.  No cancellations after July 1, 2013 will be accepted by the Department of Residence Life, unless you are leaving the university (transferring, withdrawing, etc).

Thank you again for the great year.  For those of you returning to the residence halls next year, I look forward to seeing you during “Welcome Weekend.”  Those of you who are moving beyond our walls on-campus, good luck in your future endeavors.
