Before coming to UW-Platteville, I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater (UWW) in Psychology and Women’s Studies. I am very happy to call Wisconsin and Platteville home.  I am originally from Lodi, WI, which is about 25 minutes north of Madison.  Platteville is a great community both on and off campus and I recommend checking out all it has to offer!

Will Nolan

Porter Hall: Will Nolan

Hello, my name is William Nolan. I prefer to go by Will. I am the New Resident Director in Porter Hall. I am really excited to start my first post-graduate school position here at UW-Platteville.

Previously, I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Northern Illinois University (NIU) in English Literature. During my time at NIU, I developed friendships with residence hall staff, and they inspired me to continue into higher education. Due to my interest in educating young adults, and the inspiration I received from my hall staff friends, I pursed a Master of Science in Education from NIU as well. My Masters area of study was Adult & Higher Education with an emphasis in student affairs. I seek to help college aged men and women to realize that they can do and achieve more than they think they can. I enjoy presenting challenges to student’s preconceived notions and helping them to open their minds to the world around them.

I am very happy to be in Platteville! I am still getting used to the hills as I am from flatland plains, but I think it is absolutely gorgeous!

Feel free to stop by my office, call me at 608.342.3230 or email me at nolanw@uwplatt.edu.

Trapper Mitchell

RounTree Commons: Trapper Mitchell

Hey everyone, my name is Trapper Mitchell and this is my eighth year as a Resident Director at UW-Platteville. I enjoy spending time outside and going to the various campus events that are happening here at Platteville. I believe that Platteville has a lot to offer both students and staff from both near and far.

I am originally from Elm Creek, Nebraska population 850. For my undergrad, I went to the University of Nebraska at Kearney where I received my Bachelor's degrees in History and International Affairs. I also received my graduate degree from UW-La Crosse in Student Affairs Administration. While in my undergrad, I started as the Hall Council president which led me to applying to become a Resident Assistant. I believe that this choice of being involved in my hall council started me on my path to where I am today. After serving as a RA for two years, I then was hired on as an Assistant Hall Director. Besides my work in student housing, I was a campus ambassador/tour guide, member of the student senate, vice president of the history club, member of Phi Alpha Theta and data processor for the office of Financial Aid among other student organizations.

After graduating, I became a Resident Director at the University of Nebraska at Kearney where I was in that position for 4 years. I truly enjoy helping students adjust to college life and finding out who they really are.

I think its important for new students to get involved in whatever they can to help make those connections to campus.  I truly believe that everyone can find something for them on our campus, they just have to look!

If you have any questions, feel free contact me at mitchellt@uwplatt.edu or by phone at 608.342.7282.

Coree' Burton

Southwest Hall: Coree' Burton

Hello! My name is Coree Burton and I'm the Southwest Hall Resident Director. This will be my seventh year at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and I'm forward to this year being a great one.

I'm originally from Detroit, Michigan and a graduate of Central Michigan University. I have a Bachelor's Degree with a major in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts and two minors (one in Art and one in Media Design, Production, and Technology). I recently received my Master's degree in Student Affairs Administration from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

A lot of learning during the college years comes from outside the classroom and some of it from the residence halls. I want to make sure that students leave here with the information and resources that are needed to be successful when they leave college and head out into the real world. I am very optimistic about that fact that the staff and residents of Southwest Hall are going to do some great things this year.

If you have any questions or comments feel free to contact me by phone by calling 608.342.7250 or by emailing me at burtonco@uwplatt.edu.

SharCarre Johnson

Wilgus Hall: SharCarre Johnson

It’s a GREAT day to be a Pioneer! My name is SharCarre and I have the honor and privilege of being the Wilgus Hall Resident Director. I hail from Gary, Indiana by way of Minneapolis, Minnesota. I recently earned my Masters of Science in College Student Personnel from Western Illinois University and I completed my undergraduate degree at Indiana State University.

I was inspired to go into the Student Affairs profession after seeing my cousin in her RA position when I was 9 years old; granted, I did know not this would be my calling at that time. When I got to college, I started working as desk assistant in the residence hall. The following year, I was become a resident assistant; I held that position for three years. After learning that I could work with students in such an influential and fulfilling way, I decided to make this my career path. In graduate school, I had the opportunities to work in the functional areas of Admissions and First Year Experience; I also had the pleasure to complete an ACUHO-I internship at UM-Flint and a practicum at Monmouth College. I have learned so much through these experiences and I am looking forward to learning a lot in my role here at UW-Platteville.

When I am able to I enjoy taking naps, playing board games, listening to music, solving puzzles, volunteering, traveling, and reading.  I am excited about being an active and productive member of the UWP community. Let’s Make This A Great Year!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by calling 608.342.3280 or by emailing me johnsonshar@uwplatt.edu.
