Welcome to Southwest Hall
Southwest Hall, completed in 2006, is home to 380 students who will live in 95 four-person suites. Each suite has four single bedrooms, a living room, a dining area with kitchenette, and two bathrooms. There is high speed internet access in every bedroom and elevator access to all floor levels. The entire building is air conditioned and each suite is fully furnished. Each of the six floors has a study room with a computer that can be used for group projects. Other public areas include the main desk, mailroom, lobby, multipurpose room, laundry room, and community room with vending area. Southwest Hall remains open during the official academic year breaks.

Happy March from Southwest Hall!
While I wish I could say that it was starting to look a lot like spring outside, obviously winter has decided to stay around longer (whether we still want it here or not). As we enter a new month, here are a couple of things to be aware of:
• Southwest Hall residents, come and try your luck at our annual Cake Walk event! The Cake Walk will be held at 8pm on Wednesday, March 12 in the Southwest Hall Multipurpose room. Cake Walk gives you the chance to have fun, donate to a great cause, and win some yummy homemade bakery items. Each round costs $0.50 to play, so make sure you bring your piggy banks to fuel your fun and play until you win! Your $0.50 gets you into the game room where you walk around on a circle of numbers until the music stops. If your number you are standing on is picked, you win and will get an express pass to the prize room to pick out whatever dessert catches your eye! All proceeds will go this year to Freedom Honor Flight Network, a national program that gives veterans a chance to visit Washington, D.C. on a Tour of Honor to see the war memorials. This event is open to the campus and the community.
• Spring Break is almost here! It will begin Friday, March 14 at 6pm and will go into Sunday, March 23rd at noon. Southwest Hall residents are allowed to stay in the hall during that time at no additional cost but keep in mind that front desk hours as well as staffing will be limited. Speaking of spring, as we reach the middle of the semester and closer to the seasons changing, now may be a good time to do some spring cleaning to get suites organized as well as taking belongings that are not being used either home or donating them.
• For those continuing students, registration for classes begins Monday, March 31st so make sure that going to the Registrar’s Office webpage for information about that process (you can get there by going to http://www.uwplatt.edu/registrar/calendars.html).
• As I’ve said several times this semester already, Southwest Hall Suite Forum is a great opportunity to meet other students in the hall, learn about things that impact you both in the hall and on-campus, and participate in fun activities. Meetings are Wednesdays at 9pm in the Multipurpose Room.
If there are any questions about the above announcements, or anything else, please feel free to contact me.
Have a good month and a great Spring Break!
