What is the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Scholars Program?
The STEM Scholars program is a five-year program funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) starting in Fall 2010. The program annually awards 10 renewable scholarships to incoming freshman or transfer students of approximately $3,800, increasing the group to 40 students in years four and five. Eligible students must select a major offered in the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science, demonstrate academic excellence, and show financial need. This program crosses STEM disciplines within the College of EMS by building a strong network through various group activities.

In order to apply for the STEM Scholars Program, you must be admitted into the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. If you have been admitted to UW-Platteville and are interested in our program please apply.
APPLICATIONS FOR 2014 ARE DUE MARCH 15, 2014!!
Directions for filling out the application:
- Complete STEM Scholars application and contract below.
- Each applicant must demonstrate financial need and have a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) report submitted. Please attach a copy of the SAR (Student Aid Report) to be eligible for this scholarship. (FAFSA can be completed on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov and the SAR is sent to you in an e-mail after you complete the FAFSA.)
- Each applicant must attach a copy of your HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT.
- Each applicant must provide a letter of recommendation completed by a science, technology, engineering or mathematics professional (e.g. teacher, work supervisor, etc. The letter should address academic aptitude, motivation, leadership qualitites, time management skills, service learning, and/or memberships). Letters should be submitted to the person/address shown at the bottom of the application form or they may provide the recommendation in a sealed and signed envelope to be included with your complete application.
