Melcher Madness is a 3-on-3 tournament fundraiser for the Orion House in Platteville.  Orion Family Services is a private, nonprofit organization which serves children, adolescents and families throughout Wisconsin. Orion's programs are dedicated to providing compassionate treatment services to troubled children and their families. Services include group and foster home care, family therapy services to families in their own homes and a range of other critical outreach services. Orion Family Services currently works with more than 350 children and 110 families per year in Dane, Columbia, Green, Iowa, Sauk, Richland, Milwaukee, Rock, Jefferson, and Walworth counties.

The uniqueness of Orion is that its services can be linked together, or combined with existing community services to provide the most effective and economical approach to helping children and their families. The ultimate goal is to promote healthy families and children who feel loved and valued.”

The Tournament:
32 team tournament, five round tournament.  In between rounds there will be entertainment with a three point shootout, skills competition, and a dance performance.  The winner of the three point shootout and skills competition will each win $50; however, players in the tournament cannot participate in these events.  The cost for registration is $30 a team, and teams are limited to four players.  Games will be played to 21 points by one's and two's.  We predict that games will take 20 to 30 minutes.  The tournament will be refereed.  There is rumor that Pioneer Pete may be there.  The winner of the 3-on-3 tournament will win a large $300 check.  Second place wins $30.
