University Information and Communications STAFF
Paul has been with UW-Platteville since 1996, and with UIC since 2010. As the public information officer, he is responsible for coordinating the university's responses for external queries. In the last two years, he has chaired the Mascot Committee and the Website Transition Project. Previously, Paul served as the Sports Information Director, and his basketball programs were voted the best in the nation among all non-NCAA Division I schools. He is a UW-Eau Claire graduate.
As the new supervisor for branding, Johanna oversees the publications and marketing departments. She helps guide the university in communicating UW-Platteville’s brand to internal and external audiences. Johanna started working in Publications in 2003 as a student graphic designer. She joined the staff upon her graduation from UW-Platteville in 2004, with degrees in communication technologies with an image media emphasis and fine art-graphic design emphasis.
Diana serves as the supervisor in Pioneer Printing and Postal Services andas the workflow coordinator, agency print buyer, and licensing person for UIC. The fast-paced, deadline oriented area is a hub of activity day in and day out and she enjoys the variety of people she gets to meet. Diana has worked on campus since 2003 and is a member of the Pioneer Appeal Committee, Image Committee, Branding Committee, and has served on other committees on campus.
Tyler is a 2001 UW-Platteville graduate with a communications degree in photographic imaging and graphic design. Upon graduating he studied abroad in Japan and photographed there for eight years. He started working in UIC in 2010 and completed his master's degree in the summer of 2012.
As speech writer for the UW-Platteville, Laurie is responsible for researching, writing and editing speeches and articles, primarily for the Chancellor's Office. In all her writing for this position, she strives to incorporate the UW-Platteville goals, project a positive and accurate image of UW-Platteville and the Chancellor's Office, and foster greater public relations.
Amy started working in Publications as a student in 1999 and liked it so much that she decided to stay. Amy works on a diverse array of projects to keep up with the evolving needs of campus and ensures that university standards are upheld through design and review of publications. She is also a member of several committees including Commencement, Academic Staff Award for Excellence, Image and Brand. She is the Area II representative for Academic Staff Senate and Personnel Commission.

A staff writer for UIC, Eileen writes press releases for the university as well as articles for the alumni publication, Alumni Today. She also supervises the student public relations writers and serves on various committees within the division. She began working for her alma mater in October 2011 soon after obtaining her bachelo'rs degree in May 2011.
Andy has been the UW-Platteville photographer since his undergraduate days, joining the staff in 2001. Upon earning his degree in communications technology management, he became the full-time photographer. He has established visual identity systems and web photo galleries. Andy has won numerous awards for his standout work, and in 2011 earned the UW-Platteville Academic Staff Award for Excellence.
As the director of social community for the university, Sarah is responsible for the management of social communications, the monitoring of our online institutional brand, and the creation and cultivation of various social communities. She is also the managing editor of the Alumni Today, the magazine of the UW-Platteville Alumni Association.
Pioneer Pete, Mascot
As the mascot, Pioneer Pete draws on the deep history of Platteville. He doesn't have a lot to say, but his smile shows you just how happy he is to be part of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He made his return to campus in January, 2013.
Karen's position as the marketing manager at UW-Platteville began in 2011. In this position, she works with the talented staff in UIC to identify market needs, develop plans, conduct market research and competitive analysis, and work towards an integrated marketing model. Through the collaboration of departments on campus, she aims to increasing the brand recognition and create a positive impact on the strategic plan, improve retention and expand recruitment efforts.
A 1997 alumnus of UW-Platteville, Dan works as lead writer and editor in UIC. His primary responsibilities include writing and editing press releases about faculty, staff, students and programs at UW-Platteville that positively impact the university’s mission. He also writes for the Alumni Today magazine, supervises student writers and helps coordinate media interviews on and off campus. Dan is the former editor of the Platteville Journal.

Sara recently started her position here as Operations Program Associate, and though she may be new to the UIC office, as a 2003 alumna, she is no stranger to campus. She's excited at the opportunity to work and give back to a university that has already given her so much.
